Britain is facing the prospect of 80% of its gas having to come from overseas by 2015. This will cause a massive increase in the cost of gas and fuel poverty for millions of people. The development of a comprehensive anaerobic digestion infrastructure could provide up to 20% of our domestic gas, which is 10% of Britain’s entire national energy supply. Not only will this gas reduce the overall cost of gas in Britain, it will be a vital component in meeting our greenhouse gas targets and helping to decarbonise the electricity and gas grids. ADBA has based these figures on the construction of 1,000 AD plants by 2020, 75% in the agricultural sector, which will cost just £5bn to construct and will produce £1.7bn worth of gas per year at today’s prices. Without AD, Britain will fail to meet its committed renewable energy targets and there will be gas shortages in less than five years.

Securing finance is critical to AD achieving these targets.

Why attend?

ADBA’s first National Conference will provide delegates with a comprehensive overview of anaerobic digestion including an in-depth session on finance looking at the economic viability of AD projects for both debt finance and the equity market. Key note speakers will highlight the value of AD in terms of energy security, waste management and meeting renewable energy targets, whilst industry experts will address issues with funding, regulation and standards and the types of AD plant suitable for various feedstocks.

With speakers including Government Ministers, National Grid, United Utilities, Waitrose, Triodos Bank, Tamar Energy, WRAP and Environment Agency. ADBA’s first National Conference will put AD on the map and demonstrate why it is light years ahead in the race for renewable energy and a carbon free future.
