2023: A Year in Review

Mark, David & Jamie Talking

As we step into a new year, we take a look back on 2023, a remarkable year of growth, innovation, and recognition. With strategic market expansion, key personnel additions, and well-deserved awards.

Growth and Diversification

Compass experienced significant growth throughout the year, increasing the size and diversity of its own book, as well as increasing its overall lending into the market via its panel of brokers. A huge thanks goes out to all of the equipment suppliers and resellers that we’ve partnered with this year, who have helped contribute to that and we hope that we’ve added value to your businesses too.

New Hires

A cornerstone of our success has always been our people, and this year the company has galvanised its team further with a hat-trick of key recruits, including Rob Lee-Davey, as finance director, Jordan Pocock as a senior sales manager, and Ken Archbold as head of credit. The new hires bring a wealth of experience and fresh perspectives to the team, they are already playing pivotal roles in driving innovation, enhancing relationships, and contributing to the overall growth of the business.

Compass has also continued to invest in its customer support with further additions to the newly created Business Support Team, along with enhanced systems and processes to help them provide the best possible support to their customers.

Awards and Recognition

Compass Business Finance’s dedication to excellence has not gone unnoticed, as the company received a number of prestigious awards. As a business, the most significant of these awards, was the LeasingWorld GOLD Award for Customer-Centric Funder of the Year, providing recognition for the company’s commitment to the relational approach they offer SMEs across the UK.

Further recognition was given to key individuals, with Bruce Nelson, Director of Credit and Risk, receiving the Asset Finance Connect Lifetime Achievement award in July. Whilst at the other end of his career journey, Premil Mathews, Software Developer has just been recognised by the Leasing Foundation as one of the 30 Under 30 recipients.

These accolades underscore Compass’ commitment to delivering exceptional financial solutions while maintaining the highest standards of customer support and integrity.

Looking Ahead

During the past 18 years of business, Compass have created solid foundations, ever increasing market awareness, and a strong team, it is well-positioned to continue providing innovative financial solutions and exceeding the expectations of its customers.

In the words of Mark Nelson, Director and Co-founder, “We are immensely proud of the accomplishments of the past year, our people are our strongest asset. We’ve made some fantastic new hires and we’ll be looking to increase the size of our team further in 2024.”
