At one end of the scale, Bon Precision Engineering manufactures cost-effective precision turned components; at the other it operates an online store serving customers who perhaps just want a few pins, dowels or inserts for a project at home, or for hobby enthusiasts. Four years ago, Bon Precision Engineering purchased a first Star CNC sliding head machine after being recommended to Compass, which financed the loan through its own book.

Fast forward to 2024 and a growing order book meant Bon Precision Engineering needed to increase capacity. Another Star SB-20R CNC Sliding Head Machine was needed, which was purchased at MACH 2024 in April, arriving a month later.
The SB-20R CNC Machine represents a significant advancement in Bon Precision Engineering’s manufacturing capabilities, adding to the machinery already in place at its Northants-based production unit.
Kerry said: “We paid a hefty deposit for the new machine but still needed some financing to bridge the gap. We spoke to one finance company who’d been recommended but somehow it didn’t feel quite right, so I spoke to Allan Robinson at Compass. He came back with a quote that was £200 a month cheaper, saving us about £8,000 overall. Allan was fast, efficient, friendly and stood head and shoulders above the other people I’d spoken with.
The paperwork for the financing was concluded within 5 days and was totally hassle-free. I felt much more relaxed with Compass… with the others I felt pressured. Compass say it in plain English, with no jargon. Allan also checked in with us afterwards, the follow-up service has been very good.”
